In ear acupuncture, there is an orderly, anatomic arrangement of points, based upon an inverted foetus perspective of the body. Imagine the ear lobe as a miniature map of the human body, on which it is possible to localize approximately 50 specific points. The head areas are represented towards the bottom of the ear; the homonculus devotes a proportionally larger area to the head and hand that to the rest of the body. That a part of the body such as the ear can represent the whole body has been related to the holographic view of the brain. Ear acupuncture facilitates the natural, self-regulating homeostatic mechanism of the body by diminishing overactive bodily functions or increasing underactive physiological processes. Ear acupuncture is often used in support of long-term problems, or administered once as a complement to classic acupuncture, especially whilst treating addictive syndromes such as smoking, alcoholism or as a means of reducing weight.

Our therapist will stimulate the appropriate points on the ear lobe using either small needles or magnetic beads, and in a space of a few seconds up to a maximum of 2 minutes, will succeed in reducing the pain and assist with regenerating the functionality of the ill organ. There will be a small pinch, followed by a sensation of warmth in the ear, which will slowly disappear. Those who are very sensitive might feel a slight tingling sensation or pins and needles in the problematic area during the application. The number of treatments varies on the patient.
